East Gippsland were home this weekend looking for revenge against Churchill after a narrow loss last time they met.
With a new forward line bringing in young Will Park for his full senior debut and the veteran David Claridge up front making this week side very competitive. This combination nearly had immediate success but was thwarted by the oppositions goalkeeper with a fine save.
Both sides created chances and at the 14 minute mark Tom Forster crossed a beautiful ball into the penalty area and Jayden Steele spectacularly headed in a goal that lifted the young Eagles team. They were were 2 nil up after a spectulitive shot from Tom Forster went through the Churchill keepers legs and nestled into the back of the net. This prompted Churchill into action and unfortunately they found a goal through a misunderstanding in the Eagles defence and an own goal was the result.
